Mission Trips
In 2018, Willowbrook members will have numerous opportunities to carry God's light and love all around the world. Last year we continued our journey as a church family to fulfill the Great Commission. This year we will extend that journey with a wide range of mission trips.
Our Global Impact Missions Strategy at Willowbrook Baptist Church is to reach Huntsville, America and the world for Jesus Christ. God is constantly looking for laborers to go into the fields. Are you open to being one of God's laborers?
For more information about any of these opportunities contact Jackie Holmes.

2018 Mission Trips

Armenia

Distribution of SD cards containing the Bible and other resources to Central Asians traveling outside of their home country for vacation. Team members will be paired with natives speakers to hand out the SD cards and invite them to a cafe run by other team members. At the cafe, other team members will serve coffee, tea, and cakes to our Central Asian guests as native speakers have spiritual conversations with interested people. These Central Asians will be blessed with the Gospel, Bible, and other resources in a media format they can use in their mobile device or computer.

Brazil

THE PARTNERSHIP: Willowbrook has partnered with Footprints Abroad Ministries (Fall 2016) to assist in the church plant process in the city of Candido Mota located in the state of Sao Paula. It has 31,000 people and currently does not have a Baptist church. It is predominantly Catholic as most rural cities in Brazil. The teams will be working with Pastor Rodney Almeida and his wife, Ineide, in the areas of evangelism, discipleship, encouragement to new believers and special outreach events according to the needs of the area.

THE METHOD: Aware of the challenges, we adopted the tract “Steps to Peace of God” by Billy Graham. We believe that is the most effective method used in our culture so far. It’s a four step presentation that covers all the critical points of their wrong beliefs. It’s presented in a very logical and interactive way with several illustrations to help the people to understand God’s plan for their lives.

Central Asia

Lying within the 10/40 Window of Unreached People Groups, Central Asia is the darkest area of the world. But Willowbrook has seen the Lord at work here in a mighty way. Travel with us to the Second Holy Land, to where the Apostles Paul and Peter walked, and the land of some of the earliest Christian Churches. We enjoy fellowshipping and encouraging our workers here, and local national believers. Before any work is done and before there is a harvest, prayer must take place. We cover new areas and old in prayer and spend many hours over tea in conversation with those the Lord puts in our path. “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; It speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it. It will certainly come and will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:3

Costa Rica (Women's Conference)

Ladies from Willowbrook travel to Costa Rica to be hosted by Templo Bautista de Atenas where Perlas, the ladies leadership team there, combines efforts with us to hold a conference for women in their community. This conference is a major event for their women’s ministry and has continued to develop into outreach to other area ministries. We truly enjoy spending time in devotions, prayer, laughter, encouragement, and work together. This sweet church expresses such passion for the Lord that anyone who has the privilege to worship there experiences new depths and new heights in their own spiritual life. Going on this trip offers the opportunity to develop deep and lasting friendships with our sisters in Christ. Here’s what some of our precious “tico” friends have to say:

“...Every year I wait for the conference in order to learn more about the Lord from these wonderful women, my beautiful friends” ~ Alejandra
“I want to thank the Lord for the lives of the women on the team, and the great support and example that they have been in my life!” ~ Judith
“...I just thank the Lord for the privilege of sharing this time every year.” ~ Fer
“It has been a blessing in my life because every conference helped me in my spiritual growing. Thanks to the Lord for Willowbrook’s Women’s Ministry.” ~ Felicia

Haiti

In Haiti, nearly all families survive on approximately $2.00 per day. As much as individuals wish to provide the basic necessities for their family, the economy puts up almost unsurmountable barriers and has resources to support only a fraction of its population. This leaves families to go without and fight daily to merely survive. There are over 500,000 orphans in Haiti, some of which are true orphans, who have lost both of their parents due to number of contributing factors. They may be sold as restaveks (child slaves), others released into a world of prostitution, or left to fight the daily struggles on their own. Some, however, are blessed to be rescued from the unthinkable and put in the care of loving orphanages or reunited with family after a rebuilding process. It is this that we pray for and support through mission work here and in Haiti through our partnership with Future Generation International Missions, Inc. Throughout the year, teams face the reality of a world literally starving for help, and they go to serve and follow His command to "Love your neighbor as yourself" (see Matthew 22:36-39).

Kenya

In 2012, Willowbrook began a partnership with Mike Eden Ministries out of Texas and the first team was sent to Little Eden Children’s Home in Kenya. Since then, teams have gone every year to do VBS, a Woman’s Conference in the village, help with the Pastor Conference, and LOTS of paint and general maintenance at the orphanage! Most important though is the relationships that are built stronger each year with the children and the staff. This last year we took new clothes and filled backpacks with their names embroidered on them: so much fun to see their faces when they saw something that was truly theirs.

Trip costs are estimated between $2500-3000, depending on cost of airline tickets. It will include a one day safari at the end. All your Kenya costs: travel, food, transportation, are included. NOT included are shots, malaria medications, food to and from or while in the village, and souvenirs. We stay at the children’s home and cook most of our own meals.

Peru

Not Forgotten is on a mission to help abandoned, abused, and neglected children understand and believe that they are not forgotten – not by us and not by God. Not Forgotten seeks to advocate for and rehabilitate children from Iquitos, Peru who are affected by the helplessness and hopelessness of their condition. Not Forgotten invites you to join us in spreading the hope of Jesus Christ to these children, that they might find true life in Him and grow up to become agents of change in their communities.

Uganda

Willowbrook has partnered with Four Corners Ministries to assist in the process of building and growing a church in a war-torn, spiritually hungry part of northern Uganda. Our team will be working with a local pastor in the areas of evangelism, discipleship, and encouragement to new believers. Four Corners Ministries mission statement is to make God’s glory known to the nations by targeting hard-to-reach people groups. Some people are hard-to-reach because they hate the message of Christ. Others are hard-to-reach because they are inconvenient and expensive to get to. We seek to accomplish the mission of God in four ways: Sending, Proclaiming, Educating, and Demonstrating.
